Congress Committee District Kupwara Marks Constitution Day, Former MLA Abdul Raheem Rather Among Others Participate

Kupwara: In line with nationwide celebrations, the Congress Committee for district Kupwara held an event to mark the Constitution Day here on Tuesday.

The event was marked in the august presence of senior Congress leader and former MLA Kokernag Abdul Raheem Rather, party’s District President Kupwara Javaid Ahmad Mir and other party activists, workers and office bearers of the north Kashmir district.

The guest of honour on the occasion Mr. Abdul Raheem Rather impressed upon those attending the event to believe in the very essence of the constitution. “It is this Constitution which governs us as people of this land”, Rather said, adding, “there can be no other alternative to this document. “We must in our personal and collective capacity strive to learn and stand for what it (Constitution) teaches us and demands us to stand for.”

Congress District President Kupwara Javid Ahmad Mir seconding the senior leader asserted that the Constitution is the ultimate authority in India. “As shrewd citizens, we must stand up for our rights as all of our judiciary derives its mandate and power from the Constitution only,” Mir said.

“As long as we act and behave as responsible citizens, more aptly to say as per our Constitution, there is nothing for us to fear about,” Mir added.
