KG NEWS DESK Ganderbal, Dec 12 :To aware the students about the latest trends and technologies in the field of Computer Science and IT industry, the Department of IT, Central University of Kashmir (CU Kashmir) organised an event on “Emerging Trends in IT Industry”. Er. Adnaan Nazir, Artificial Intelligence Engineer at Microsoft and Er. Mir Rashid, Technical Lead at Ahara- A US-based Startup was the resource person. In his address, Department Coordinator, Er. Afaq Alam Khan, as per a statement issued to GNS, stressed upon the significance of the event as a crucial step in bridging the gap between industry and academia. He emphasized that interactions with industry experts not only offer valuable insights into technological advancements but also provide practical career advice to students. “This connection between the academic environment and industry professionals is considered a crucial step in preparing students for the real-world challenges and expectations of the IT industry,” he said. He informed the experts that the Department has established a student coding club namely “CodeSquad” wherein coding contests are being conducted. Addressing the participants, Er. Adnaan Nazir provided an in-depth insight into key technology areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science. He highlighted the transformative impact these technologies are expected to have on the future job market. Emphasizing the dynamic nature of the IT industry, he stressed the importance of students acquiring the necessary skills to stay relevant. He advised students to prepare for job opportunities in prestigious technology companies known as FAANG (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google) as these companies are often considered industry leaders and are known for innovative work. In his speech, Er. Mir Rashid focussed on Full Stack Development and the diverse set of technologies involved. He gave an overview of several client-side and server-side technologies with an emphasis on React and Python. Highlighting the opportunities available in freelancing, particularly in the context of the post-COVID era, he said that remote work and freelancing have become more prevalent resulting in the potential for individuals to explore freelance projects as a way to leverage their skills and gain practical experience. Shedding light on the changing landscape of work opportunities, he encouraged active participation in the open-source community for skill enhancement and networking. Speaking on the occasion, Sr. Asst Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Najar, emphasized the role of engineers as solution providers for the challenges faced by society.
