Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch Jammu, Sanjay Parihar said that the first complainant came in contact with the accused during a train journey from Jammu to Roorkee. The acquaintance later developed into familiarity, which the accused allegedly exploited by assuring the complainant of a job in the High Court. Trusting the assurance, the victim reportedly paid Rs 2 lakh and was handed over an appointment letter, which later turned out to be forged.

In another instance, the accused allegedly deceived a second complainant, known to him for a long time. Initially, he is said to have taken Rs 2 lakh under the pretext of his wife’s medical treatment. Later, he allegedly promised to arrange a High Court job for the complainant’s son, collected documents, and provided a fake appointment order.

Officials said that when the complainants approached the concerned authorities, the appointment letters were found to be fake.

Following verification of the complaints, a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway. (KNC)
