Poonch, Jan 12 : A fire broke out in the forest area of Mahra in Tehsil Surankote on Monday evening, spreading across a large stretch of jungle and triggering concern among locals.
Reports reaching news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, said the fire erupted around this evening and quickly spread over a sizeable portion of the forest due to difficult terrain and dry conditions. However, no loss of life or property has been reported so far.
Local sources told news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC) that no team from the Forest Department had reached the spot till late evening, while the Fire and Emergency Services were unable to access the area due to lack of road connectivity.
Residents expressed concern over the absence of immediate response and urged the authorities to take prompt measures to contain the fire and prevent further damage to forest resources. (KNC)
