Srinagar: As the Lok Sabha polls near, political developments across Jammu and Kashmir are picking up with politicians either in anticipation of reviving their careers’ or switching sides for a ‘better’ fortune. The latest among the lot is former Member of Legislative Council Shehnaz Ganai and another MLC from Bandipora Yasir Reshi.

As learnt, Shehnaz Ganai is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi.

The development comes amid speculation about Ganai’s political future following her departure from her previous political affiliations.

The move is expected to bolster the BJP’s influence in the region and provide Ganai with a platform to contribute to the party’s objectives.

In a somewhat similar development, former Member of Legislative Council, from Bandipora, Yasir Reshi is likely to join Mehbooba Mufti led Peoples Democratic Party.

Reshi, who is learnt to be out of state these days, may join the PDP anytime upon his arrival back to Valley.

There already are several other politicians who are in queue mainly to switch sides as the Parliamentary elections approach thick and fast.

There even is clamour growing over the conduct of Assembly elections, and any ‘significant development’ in this regard too can’t be ruled out as of now.
