Says Action must follow against waqf chairperson for misuse of emblem
Srinagar, Sept 8: National Conference Chief leader and Member Legislative Assembly from Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, on Monday said that the recent violence at Hazratbal was a reaction to religious sentiments being violated, while calling for strict action against those responsible, including the Vice-Chairperson of the Waqf Board.
Talking to media persons MLA Tanvir, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner—KNC, said, “Violence is not the solution, but what happened at Hazratbal was a natural outburst of people’s emotions. The misuse of the national emblem at the shrine was a grave mistake and accountability must be fixed.”
He demanded immediate action against the Vice-Chairperson of the Waqf Board and urged the police to deal seriously with the issue. “The emblem is the symbol of the state. Whoever misuses it must face consequences,” Sadiq remarked.
NC leader also pressed for a House Committee probe into alleged irregularities in allotments and tenders. “We want the Assembly Committee to look into all works done without e-tendering and hold those guilty accountable,” he added.
Recalling the historic role of Sheikh Abdullah in building Hazratbal, Sadiq said the shrine was raised through public contributions.
“Sher-e-Kashmir went door to door to collect donations for this sacred place so that devotees from across the Valley could come and pray. That legacy must be respected, not undermined,” he said. (KNC)
