Lady IAS Officer Addl Secy in Home Dept Booked in ₹95 Lakh Cheating Case in Cuttak Odisha

Cuttack, Apr 12 : Police in Odisha have registered a cheating case against a lady IAS officer additional Secretary in home Department, in connection with an alleged ₹95 lakh fraud, officials said.

According to reports as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the accused officer, presently serving as Additional Secretary in the Home Department, has been booked following a complaint filed earlier this year. The complainant alleged that he had entered into an agreement in November 2022 to purchase a plot for ₹95 lakh, out of which ₹85 lakh was transferred through RTGS and ₹10 lakh paid in cash.

However, despite receiving the payment, the officer allegedly neither registered the land nor handed over possession. The complainant further alleged that she later claimed to have spent the money and also issued threats.

Police said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and necessary permissions are being sought from the government to proceed further. Authorities have also informed senior officials about the FIR, while further investigation is underway. (KNC)
