Srinagar, Jan 5 (GNS): Many aspirants for Jammu and Kashmir’s Bank’s Banking Associates, who could not make it to the examinations centres due to heavy snowfall, demanded re-examinations on Tuesday. Also, candidates who are scheduled to appear in the examinations on January 6 demanded postponing of the examinations.

“Despite our best efforts, we could not reach the venue of examination,” said some aspirants from Ganderbal who had appear at a centre in Hyderpora Srinagar. “We had our one vehicle but could not reach even midway. Ultimately we had to return back,” they said, adding “One can imagine the plight of those who had to rely on public transport.” The bank authorities, they said are saying that half an hour more time was given for arrival to reach the venues today. “When somebody cannot move, giving half an hour for arrival is meaningless,” they said.

They urged the bank authorities to conduct the reexamination for all the candidates who missed the paper. “We should not be excluded with no fault on our part. Weather is under nobody’s control. It is a heavy snowfall which crippled life entirely,” they said. A number of candidates from other districts of Kashmir Valley told GNS that “when Kashmir university, CUK, J&K Board can cancel examinations why cannot J&K Bank.”

“It is not the case also that the examination is on a particular day. It is to run by the end of this month or beyond. The bank can still arrange fresh examination for all those who missed the examination on account of the weather vagaries,,” they said, adding, “If cancelling examination for those who missed is not possible than re-exam should be conducted for all those who appeared or missed the same since Sunday.”

The aspirant said that they should not be excluded for something which is beyond human beings control.

Meanwhile, some candidates who are scheduled to appear in examinations later this month urged the authorities to change their examination centre and keep the same in their respective district headquarters. “I have to appear in Sopore while I am resident of Srinagar. it is difficult for me to reach the centre early morning. The authorities are requested to change the venue and conduct it in district headquarters for all the aspirants” said that aspirant. (GNS)
