Jahangir Lolabi Srinagar, Jun 6 (GNS): Authorities on Saturday suspended a medical officer for alleged negligence in handling of a novel Coronavirus suspect in north-Kashmir’s Kupwara district. In an order, a copy of which lies with GNS District Magistrate Anshul Gargh directed for suspension of the Medical Officer Dr. Ashiq Hussain Wani. The suspended doctor, as per the order, deployed at Quarantine Centre (BHSS Halmatpora) is accused of “gross negilgence” over release of a COVID suspect awaiting test results, “thereby endangering public health at large.” The order is in consonance with the one issued by Chief Medical Officer Kupwara over suspension of the accused doctor.
