Pulwama: Labourer’s body fished out from Jhelum

Srinagar, Aug 19 (GNS): Body of a 20-year-old labourer who drowned while extracting sand in river Jehlum near Kernabel Kakapora area of south Kashmir Pulwama on Wednesday.

Official sources told GNS that the labourer identified as Yaseen Ahmad Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh was extracting sand when he drowned near Sombura bridge. A number of locals had jumped into the river to save the youth. However, they could only retrieve his body after hectic searches, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the police took the body to the nearby facility for postmortem and later handed over to the family for last rites after formalities were completed, they added.  (GNS)
