Srinagar, Jan 11 (GNS): Police in Sopore tehsil of north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in possession of contraband substances.
A handout received by GNS reads that “Acting tough against the drug peddlers, Sopore Police arrested one drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.”
Police party of Police Post Watergam on Naka duty, as per the handout, arrested one drug peddler in Rafiabad area during the latter’s suspicious movement at Ladoora Crossing.
Identifying the peddler as Qaiser Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar residence Ladoora Rafiabad, the statement maintains that, “12 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and 4 strips of SPASMOPROXYVON Plus were recovered from the possession of (now) arrested person.”
A case vide FIR number 09/2021 U/S 8/22 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and further investigations taken up, the handout reads.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood”, the statement reads.
“Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.”
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace”, the statement reads further. (GNS)
