Bandipora/Kupwara, Aug 20 (GNS): A youth and an elderly person died after falling from walnut trees in north Kahsmir’s Bandipora and Kupwara districts  on Saturday, official sources said.

They said a 21-year-old youth died after he fell down from the Walnut tree in Odina village of Bandipora district.

They told GNS that one Mohammad Amin Dar, Ghulam Haider Dar accidentally fell from a walnut tree in Lampora area of Odina village, resulting in his on-spot death.

A pall of gloom descended in the village as soon as the news about the young man’s death spread and hundreds thronged to participate in the last rites of the deceased.

Meanwhile a 55-year-old man died of critical injuries, he sustained after falling from a walnut tree in Kupwara on Friday last.

Reports reaching GNS said that one Ghulam Mohiudin Lone, son of Mohammad Akbar Lone, resident of Lalpora Rangwar, presently residing in Muqam Dardpora fell from a walnut tree at Rangwar Hayatpora village. The individual suffered serious injuries in the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital from where he was shifted to SDH Kupwara. The doctors on assessing him there, referred the individual to SKIMS Soura, where he breathe his last this afternoon.

A police official has in the meantime confirmed the death of the individual in the incident. (GNS)
