April 28: Continuing its intensified campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Police in Anantnag have taken firm preventive action by detaining eight habitual drug peddlers under relevant provisions of law, following due approval from the Executive Magistrates.
The detained individuals were identified as repeat offenders actively involved in narcotics-related activities. Despite previous legal action, they persisted in the drug trade, posing a significant threat to public health, especially to the youth of the district.
Acting decisively, the police invoked preventive detention laws to curb their activities and prevent further harm. Subsequently, all eight accused have been lodged in Subsidiary Jail Kehribal, Anantnag.
This action underscores the firm resolve of J&K Police to dismantle drug networks and curb the menace of substance abuse. The police remain committed to taking stringent measures against habitual offenders and seek continued cooperation from the public in eradicating this social evil.
