Poonch, Nov 2 (GNS): 2.5 kilograms of narcotics (heroin like substance) was recovered from the possession of a 24-year-old man during frisking in Poonch district of Jammu, officials said.
“Mendher police and 37 RR established a naka near government degree college Mendhar. During the checking, one person namely Karan Dutta (24) son of Koshal Dutta of Dharana was intercepted and during frisking three packets were recovered weighed around 2.5 kg having narcotics (heroin like substance ) from his possession,” a police official said.
In this regard, he said a case ( FIR No.258/20) under sections 8/21/22 NDPS has been lodged in police station Mendhar. The possibility of consignment being smuggled from across the border can’t be ruled out, the official said.
“Investigation is going on to ascertain the backward and forwarded linkages,” the official added. SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral confirmed the recovery of the heroin-like substance and told GNS that investigations are underway.
“This is the third major recovery of narcotics in last few days by Mendher police,” he said. (GNS)
