Slain Includes JeM Commander, Young Ace Footballer
Srinagar, Dec 24 (GNS): Two militants including a commander of Jash-e-Mohammad were killed in a gunfight in Wanigam Payeen area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
Official sources told GNS that after eight hours into cordon-and-search-operation searches in Wanigam area, the militants were tracked and subsequently “contact established”.
During exchange of firing two militants were killed, they said. As per the sources slain militants have been identified as Abrar alias Langoo from Pakistan and Amir Siraj from Sopore, however official confirmation was awaited when this report was filed.
Amir, an ace footballer in his early twenties, had gone missing on June 24 this year.
In the morning some speculative fires were also shot towards the suspected spot, however there was no response from militants, the officials. When this report was filed, the operation was going on.
Earlier, a joint team of police, army and CRPF launched a joint CASO amid specific inputs about the presence of the militants in the area, they added. (GNS)
