Srinagar, Nov 5 (GNS): Police on Thursday said that two unknown persons were injured when “militants fired indiscriminately” during a cordon-and-search operation in Lalpora area of Pulwama in south Kashmir.
“During CASO at Lalpora Pampore, (militants) fired indiscriminately in which two unknown persons got injured. Search in the area is going on,” police said in a tweet.
A senior Police officer told GNS that as the joint team of Police, 50 RR and CRPF were laying the cordon, the hiding militants attacked with volley of bullets as well as hurled grenades upon the security forces.
In this incident two civilians were injured who have been hospitalized, the officer said.
“During search operation at Lalpora Pampore, hiding (militants) have been tracked down by joint security forces. Encounter is going on,” police said in another tweet.
The police officer said that cordon has been tightened around the suspected area even as lights have been installed. (GNS)
