2 young women among 14 more die of covid-19, J&K toll 1418

Srinagar, Oct 22(GNS): Two young women, aged between 22 to 29 years, were among fourteen persons who lost the battle to covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir in last 24 hours, officials said on Thursday.

Among the victims, they said, nine were residents of Kashmir Valley and five belonged to Jammu division, taking the fatality count 1418.

Regarding deaths from the Valley, officials told GNS that a 22-year-old from Ganderbal died a day after she was admitted to SKIMS Soura.   

They said a 55-year-old woman from Lal Bazar died at SKIMS Soura, nine days after she was admitted there.  

A 29-year-old woman from Watlar Ganderbal also died at SKIMS Soura, a day after admitted at the tertiary care hospital.

A 75-year-old from man Nawabagh Lalbazar also died at SKIMS, 20 days after he was admitted to the tertiary care hospital  

The other fatalities include a 70-year-old man from Gurez Bandipora, a 95-year-old from Natipora Srinagar, a 75-year-old man from Alamgari Bazar Srinagar, a 70-year-old from Bagimehtab Chattergam Budgam, and a 65-year-old man from Dhobi Mohalla Srinagar

Those who died in Jammu division include three from the winter capital of the J&K and one each from Doda and Poonch districts.  Among others, the victims, the officials told GNS include a 77-year-old from New Plot Jammu and a 58-year-old man from R S Pora besides a 74-year-old man from Mandhar Poonch who died at SKIMS Soura, 12 days after he was admitted there.  

With these deaths, the fatality count has reached 949 in Valley and 469 in Jammu region.

Srinagar district with 342 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (243), Baramulla (137), Budgam (91), Pulwama (79), Kupwara (71), Anantnag (71), Kulgam (46), Bandipora(43), Rajouri (45), Doda (43), Shopian (35), Ganderbal (33), Kathua (30), Udhampur (27), Samba (25), Poonch (23), Kishtwar(14), Ramban (12), and Reasi (7).
