Kupwara, Sep 25: Army’s 30 Rashtriya Rifles on Friday distributed stationery material among students of a local school here at Hangah Mawer area of Handwara in this frontier district.
A defence official statement received here, reads that “the Army has been constantly undertaking a variety of programmes for welfare of Awam, which, as per the statement, include educational activities among students and youth.
“Continuing with the same spirit, Army today distributed stationary material at Government High School Hangah of Mawer area in the district”, the statement reads.
The distribution of stationary material, as per the statement, was conducted “with an aim to engage students of government schools in educational activities and to engage the local youth positively and effectively for due assistance in their studies.”
The event, as per the statement, also provided underprivileged students in Mawer “an opportunity to engage themselves in educational and constructive activities”.
“Distribution of stationary material to the school going children will help to win the goodwill of locals and also to promote education in the region”, the statement maintained.
“A total 12 teachers, Sarpanch Hangah and 90 male and female students attended the event.”
“The students, teachers and locals expressed their gratitude towards the Army especially CO 30RR Colonel Atul Gupta for the ‘noble initiative’ by providing them an opportunity to acquire basic right to education, even as the initiative will go a long way in winning hearts and minds of the locals”, the statement maintained further.
