Poonch, Dec 16 (GNS): Five candidates and their supporters staged a protest at main Chowk Mendhar here against alleged mass bogus voting and demanding re-poll in Mendhar-B Constituency on Wednesday.

Officials sources told GNS that five candidates—Nazir Ahmed, Parveen Sarwar Khan,

Auqib Khan, Gulam Nabi and Tahir Ali Mirza—along with their supports staged a sit in protest this afternoon.

Soon Additional SP Poonch  Khalid  Amin,  SDM Mendhar Dr Sahil Jandyal, SDPO Z A Jaffri  Tehasildar Mendhar,  Dr Vikram Kumar and  SHO Manzoor Kohli reached the spot and tried to pacify the protests. However they continued with the protest in demand for the re-poll. The protesters were first demanding re-poll in areas within jurisdiction of four police stations and are now demanding in two. They also demanded stern action against several government employees who according to them resorted to or helped in the bogus voting. Today’s protest comes a day after district administration imposed section 144 CrPC, banning the large assembly in the area. (GNS)
