Kupwara, Jul 1: Village-heads here in Sogam Block of Lalpora on Wednesday staged a protest against the alleged ‘non-responsive approach’ meted to them by the administration.

The Sarpanches alleged that they are receiving no response from the allied departments since they were elected to the post.

“When we fought elections last year with the assurance that twenty-two departments will work in tandem with us, however since then we don’t even saw once responding or consulting us regarding any work”, an agitated Village-head said adding “Even for that matter RDD department is not responding to us.”

The agitating village-heads also alleged that “the concerned AEE has not released their 14-FC payments even after approached on several occasions”, adding “We urge the concerned higher-ups to transfer the official from the Block.”

The protesting Sarpanches said that “If our genuine grievances are not fulfilled by or before July 5, we will resign from our posts before the LG-led administration.”

When contacted, ACD Kupwara Ghulam Mohammad said that they have already released more than one crore out of total six-crore thirty-two lacs under 14-FC heading for the Block, though conceding that they are yet to make the pending payments for some Panchayats owing to some technical errors. “We are on to it to rectify the records and payments will follow accordingly”, the official said.

The concerned AEE which was earlier on devolved with supervision of five blocks, has been relieved of one, the official said adding “With this measure we hope the things will fall in line accordingly.”

Regarding the alleged less-response received by Sarpanches, the official said “A strong notice will be taken into it and wherever warranted, necessary intervention will be made to assist them.”
