Kupwara, Jul 1: The local populace here in Sogam is up in arms against the authorities for alleged lackadaisical approach over movement of an ‘Insurance Company employee’ awaiting his COVID19 results into the area on Monday last, even as to the utter dismay, the employee has tested positive for the infection yesterday.

The details available with Kashmir Glory suggest that sample of the patient (name withheld) from Sopore, working with an Insurance Company came positive, a day after sent for tests.

After complaining of mild fever and running-nose for a week, the swab of patient as per details available was taken at a Hospital in Sopore on 29-06-2020. The patient awaiting his results however visited SBI Bank Branch at Sogam on the same day the test was taken.

The detection of the case has in the meantime raised eyebrows and people have alleged the authorities including Health officials of “careless approach” regarding the issue.

A local wishing anonymity told Kashmir Glory that “It is sheer carelessness on part of the concerned authorities to allow the movement of a person who already was awaiting his results” adding “Now that he has tested positive and has visited the local bank branch who will take the blame if the things go wrong.”

We urge the higher-ups to take action against those involved in the fiasco, the local demanded.

Meanwhile, the Bank branch has been closed till further orders even as at least eight employees have been sent to quarantine with immediate effect, reports added.
