Srinagar, Jul 14 (GNS): Police on Tuesday claimed to have recovered two lac six thousand counterfeit Indian currency in Bomai Sopore of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police official told GNS that, a person was apprehended by a naka team headed by SHO Bomai Imtiaz Ahmad at Goripora Darpora Crossing in the area this evening.
“During a routine naka checking police saw two persons approaching from Rashidabad side towards Bomai”, the official said adding “On seeing naka party the suspected duo tried to flee, however the party deployed tactfully apprehended one person on the spot.”
Identifying the detained person as Ghulam Hussain Lohar son of Wali Mohammad Lohar, a resident of Devar Lolab Kupwara, the official claimed that “2.06 lacs counterfeit Indian currency was recovered from the possession of detained person even as the other person managed to flee from the spot.”
The detained person, as per the official, has disclosed the identity of the fleeing suspect as Ali Mohammad Mir resident of Janwara Sopore.
Meanwhile an FIR No. 57/2020 U/S 489B, 489C was registered at police station Bomai and further investigations taken up in this regard. (GNS)
