2 Women From Jammu Die Of Covid-19, J&K Toll 692

Srinagar, August 29 (GNS): Jammu district reported two more deaths due to covid-19, taking the fatality count in J&K to 692.

Official sources told GNS two women—one of them a 55-year-old woman from Khour Pallanwalla and another a 46-year-old from Chack Arnia died at GMC hospital Jammu this evening.

Regarding the 55-year-old, a senior doctor at the hospital told GNS that she was admitted on August 28 and was diagnosed with “hypertension and diabetes with fluid overload besides tested covid-19 positive”.
“The patient remained on oxygen since the time of admission till death (this evening),” the doctor said.

Regarding another woman, the doctor said she was admitted on August 29 and was diagnosed with “diabetes, hypertension “DKA PPTBY LRTI with covid-19 positive” and also died this evening.

Earlier, J&K reported seven deaths attributed to covid-19 since overnight and with the two fresh fatalities, the overall death toll has risen to 692.

Officials said that among the seven victims who died earlier, three belonged to Jammu division and four others to Kashmir Valley—two from Budgam and one each from Kupwara and Srinagar respectively.

A 41-year-old woman from Alamgari Bazar Srinagar died at SKIMS Soura, ten days after she was admitted to the tertiary care hospital, they said. “She was suffering from hypertension, hypothyroidism and bilateral community acquired pneumonia,” a doctor at SKIMS told GNS, adding, “She died due to cardiac arrest at 9: 50 a.m. today.”
A 70-year-old resident of Khag Budgam who was diagnosed with hypertension, diabetes and bilateral CAP died due to cardiopulmonary arrest at 02:10 p.m., 18 days after being admitted to the tertiary care hospital, the doctor added.

A 65-year-old woman from Kanipora Budgam died 15 days after she was admitted to CD hospital, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients here.

Officials from Kupwara district told GNS that a 70-year-old resident of Tanghdar died at a Srinagar hospital late last night.

Sources said that three deaths were reported from Jammu division including one each from Jammu, Poonch and Doda.

A 55-year-old woman from Bhaderwah died at Sub District hospital Bhaderwah where she was admitted on Saturday morning.

A 65-year-old woman from Kasblari Mankote died at hospital in Ludhiana, a senior health officer in Poonch said.

A 60-year-old man from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu died three days after he was admitted to GMC college Jammu, a senior doctor said.

He was suffering from hypertension, diabetes, CKD and Altered Sensorium besides bilateral CAP, the doctor said. “He died at 8:30 a.m. today,” the doctor added. (GNS)
