They’re Involved In Attack On CRPF: IGP
Srinagar, Oct 20 (GNS): Three Lashker-e-Toiba militants were killed in an encounter with a joint team of police, paramilitary forces and army in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Tuesday.
“On a specific input regarding presence of (militants) in Hakripora area of Pulwama, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, (army’s) 50RR and 183 battalion CRPF in the area,”a police spokesperson told GNS in a statement issued here.
During the search operation, as the presence of militants got ascertained they were given opportunity to surrender, he said. “However instead they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated, leading to an encounter.”
In the ensuing encounter, he said, three militants were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. “The identification of the killed militants is being ascertained. Further details shall be shared”.
However, he said that as per the reliable sources and technical input they were affiliated with LeT.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar told GNS that slain militants were involved in the attack on CRPF on October 19 in which two CRPF troopers were injured.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson said that “incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.”
“ All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other crimes,” he said.
The bodies of the killed militants shall be sent to Handwara for burial after completion of all medico-legal formalities. “In case any family claims the killed militant to be their kith or kin, they can come forward for their identification at PCR Kashmir Srinagar.”
He said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated in this connection. (GNS)
