Knowledge is the practical understanding and exploration of any subject. It is the enlightening of one’s soul and body to explore the internal and external environment, living with other creations of the Almighty , especially human beings. One uses clues, evidence, facts and skills about the subject matter to provide benefits to mankind. Knowledge is something which vanishes if one indulges in evil deeds, that’s why we need that knowledge by which we can recognize the importance of each and every thing especially our creator in order to acquire tranquility. That is why our Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said: “To acquire knowledge is necessary for every peace loving man and woman.”
A person who is have a full and perfect knowledge of any subject known as the Scholar and in Islam we have religious scholars’ who we call ‘Aalim or Ulma.’ Throughout the world Muslims accept and honour these scholars which is itself ingrained in our faith – People obey, accept and surrender in front of their opinion known in their nomenclature as ‘Futwa/Fatwa’ for these scholars to explore and learn the Islamic teachings which is known as sharia. By the understanding of ‘Fiqh/Fiqa’, they act as qualified jurists and are ranked as ‘Qadis/Qazis’. That is why prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said;“Verily ulema are the heirs of prophethood and they don’t need any worldly pleasures and possessions”.
Among this galaxy of stars was Hazrat Mufti Faiz-ul-Waheed Sahab (blessings upon him) who died on June 01,2021 at ASCOMS hospital jammu. He was born in 1966 in Rajuri Dodhasan Bala in Rajouri and was one of the influential Aalim of the present times, who wrote many books including Ahkam-e-Mayyat, Namaz Kae Massayil Quran ki Roshni Mei. However one of his popular literary piece was ‘Siraj-um-Muneera‘- which has been recognised as one of the best books’ on the Seerah (autobiography) of last prophet of Islam Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
A great work done by Mufti Sahab was the translation of the Quran into Gojri language, that was not done by any of the scholars’ before him. Actually he was a strong proponent of proclaiming the Quranic knowledge and was very famous in it as he always advocated that all worldly issues can be solved only through the Quran. He remained busy presenting the Quran at different forums and finally succeeded in translating it into Gojri language.
Mufti Sahab was one of the influential scholars’ of Jammu and Kashmir, who worked hard to prevent youth from drug addiction and turned them to the right path and always advocated youth to obey parents and respect elders to set the wheels of progress into motion.
Mufti Sahab was known to give his opinions called Futwas and sayings of Muhammad (PBUH) and was a well-known authority earning him the titles of ‘Faqih’ and ‘Mufasir.‘
Mufti Sahab left at an early age of 55 years. His death is a big loss which has created a void which is very difficult to be fulfilled anytime soon. He was the treasure of knowledge of Islam and Gojri language and proved himself as identification and recognition of Gojri language. We in our personal capacities should make efforts to stand for what this great man always stood for throughout his life.
