Poonch, June 29 (GNS): A wanted timber smuggler, who according to the officials was evading arrest for two years, was nabbed on Tuesday, officials said.
“Forest Department Surankote got specific inputs regarding the presence of a notorious smuggler Badder Din son of Aziza of Dhara Sangla in Dhara village. Immediately under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer Poonch Mohan Choudhary (IFS), the Range Officer Surankote Nissar Hussain sent a team of Forest officials led by Block Officer Murrah Javid Ahmed Rana and Block Officer Bufliaz Sajad Farooq Malik,” an official of the forest department said, adding, “The team laid down a naka and arrested the accused nearby his house.”
The official said Badder Din had been evading the arrest from two years. “Two cases have already been booked under section 26 of IFA against the accused,” the official said told GNS.
Apart from the smuggling cases, the official said, various complaints regarding the hunting of wild animals have also been received against the accused. “Moreover the Department has intensified the operation against timber smuggler and will make sure that the smugglers are dealt with iron fists.” (GNS)
