Srinagar, July 2 (GNS): Police and army claimed to have foiled an ex-filtration bid by detaining three youths and a “guide” in the Uri area of the northern Kashmir district, officials said on Friday.
“Police received specific information that three local youths were received by one Parvaiz Ahmad Hajam son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din resident of Gohallan Uri (as a guide) in order to ex-filtrate them to (PaK) through Gowhallan sector,” said a police spokesman in a statement to GNS.
Acting swiftly upon the input, the spokesman said a special team headed by Junaid Wali- SDPO Uri intercepted the group and arrested the guide along with three local youths.
The youths have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Hajam son of Abdul Ahad Hajam, Reyaz Ahmad Bhat son of Manzoor Ahmad, both residents of Sheeri Mirhar and Yasir Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad of Chatloora Sopore.
“Incriminating material including sharp knives, torch etc. were also recovered from their possession,” he said, adding, “Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation into the matter is in progress.” (GNS)
