It is a bond which unites two people till death drifts them apart, and it’s because of the institution of marriage that generations after generations are given birth to. In recent times, on an unfortunate note though, marriage has become a costly affair, something analogous to over the top extravaganza. Against this backdrop, the unnecessary customs, and Superfluous ceremonies associated with weddings in our society are no more than an inevitable nuisance. Not only this, the weddings have become extremely costly for a common man, who surrenders before the overwhelming burden of the dowry, customs, and uncalled for ceremonies. In realistic terms, marriage is the most economical activity, if done in a proper way. The recent reports and surveys from the different agencies portray the grim picture of the societal imbalance, particularly when it comes to the overweening number of unmarried girls. There are thousands and thousands of girls inout society falling in the age group of 30’s and 40’s and more than that who are still unmarried , reasons pertaining to the customs, dowry, unaffordability and obstacles of such kind.Consequently, the complexities in marriages have increased, and the middle class, lower middle class and the poor sections of the society face the mighty challenges, who most often succumbs before them. In the face of this societal annoyance, the culture of Simple weddings and marriages need to be promoted as well as practiced. The dowries and unnecessary, hefty customs should be put to end and weddings with least expenses, both on the part of the groom and the bride should be encouraged. On a positive note, many people are coming forward by promoting simple, economical and hassle free weddings. Nevertheless, the onus lies on the youngsters as well as the elderly to embrace the culture of simple marriages which will pave the way for the marriage of those girls whose families are weighed down by the burden of the “Unjust Culture”. Collectively, we can make a change and gradual change is taking place . Hope is alive!
