GULMARG, FEBRUARY 17: Principal Secretary, Youth Services & Sports (YS&S) Department, Alok Kumar inaugurated 15-days Ski training course for girls at world famous tourist destination here today.

Speaking during the inaugural ceremony of the training course, the Principal Secretary said, ‘’It’s heartening to see the girls of J&K are taking active part in sports and shining in different games like their counterparts”. He added that children who play sports also learn how to be part of a team, communicate with others and make new friends.

Applauding the role of field staff in involving more young children to play sports, the Principal Secretary said that there are obvious benefits of playing sports for both girls and boys and thus more people should be encouraged to rake part in sports. He added that participation in any sport definitely helps in building healthy habits which last a lifetime as well as lead to better mental health.

This year the training about the basics in skiing for school children of different J&K districts had commenced from the month of January.

Pertinently, about 100 girls selected from 13 districts of the UT are getting training about the basics of skiing by the skilled trainers of the Department under the technical supervision of Gul Mustafa Dev. The department has also made proper arrangements of lodging and food for the trainee girls.
