Police organizes training for Gazetted officers and SHOs on Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in Budgam

In its endeavour to promote professional capacity building and skill upgradation, police in Budgam today organized a training program on Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

The program was chaired by SSP Budgam Shri Al Tahir Gilani-JKPS. In the two-session program, the resource person for the first session was CPO Mr. Salim Wani who deliberated on the topic ” Legal aspects of UAPA”. He touched upon various important legal nuances related to the investigation and Prosecution under the Act and also spoke in detail about the common problems faced while adhering to technical requirements under the Act and examination of witnesses during Prosecution.

SDPO Chrar-i-Sharif Shri Owais Wani-JKPS, was the resource person for the second session. He deliberated upon the “Practical aspects of Investigation under UAPA”. He explained the practical difficulties faced by the Investigating Officer while investigating crimes under this Act. He also threw light on various chapters and sections of the Act and how to best utilize the same.

Pertinently, the training program was attended by all Gazetted officers of the district including ASP Budgam Shri Raghav S.-IPS, Shri Ajaz Malik-JKPS, SDPO Khansahib Shri Gh. Mohuidin, all SHOs etc.
