April 23: Continuing its sustained crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag, Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Anantnag, acting on a specific tip-off, Police conducted a raid at the residential house of Farooq Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Rasool Wani resident of Nowbugh Veeri Bijbehara. During search, 371 grams of charas powder-like substance weighing 371 was recovered from the premises. The accused was arrested on the spot, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
In Sopore, a police party during naka checking in Hygam intercepted a suspicious person. During personal search, contraband charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Farhad Yousef Mir son of Mohammad Yousef Mir resident of Hygam.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
These successful operations reflect J&K Police’s firm resolve to eradicate the menace of drugs from society. Police reiterate its commitment to safeguard the youth from substance abuse and urges the community to extend cooperation in this collective mission against drug trafficking
