August 20: Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, Police in Budgam arrested a drug peddler in Chadoora area and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
During naka checking at Nowbugh village, a police party from PS Chadoora intercepted a suspicious individual carrying a polythene bag. The accused identified as Hilal Ahmed Dar son of Ab Rashid Dar resident of Nowbugh, Chadoora, attempted to flee but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 2.92 kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 155/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and further investigation is in progress.
Police reiterates its firm resolve to eradicate the drug menace from society and urges the public to share any information regarding drug trafficking. Strict action will be taken against those involved in drug peddling.
