Srinagar, Sep 21: Senior Congress leader and MLA Dooru, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, on Sunday said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir continue to suffer because both the Chief Minister and the Lieutenant Governor are functioning independently without proper coordination.
GA Mir as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said, no other state in the country has undergone the kind of upheaval J&K faced on August 5, 2019, when it was downgraded to a Union Territory. He remarked that the people are still carrying “the deep wound of losing their statehood.”
The Congress leader said that the Union Government had promised to first hold elections and then restore statehood. “Polls were conducted, but even after more than a year, there has been no move to bring back statehood,” he said.
He maintained that the dual arrangement of CM and LG has created uncertainty and inconvenience for the public. “On one hand there is the LG, on the other there is the CM. Both act on their own terms, leaving the common man to face the consequences,” Mir said, urging the Centre to take a clear decision on the matter. (KNC)
