BJP Office in Leh Set on Fire Amid Protests Demanding Statehood for Ladakh

Protesters in Leh, Ladakh, set the BJP office on fire during a massive demonstration demanding statehood for Ladakh and inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The protests turned violent as clashes broke out between the police and demonstrators.

Protesters are demanding statehood for Ladakh and inclusion under the Sixth Schedule to protect land rights, ensure job reservations for locals, and safeguard the fragile Himalayan ecology.

Violence and Response:Clashes broke out between police and protesters, with police firing teargas shells and resorting to baton charges. A police vehicle was also set on fire.

A fresh round of talks between the central government and Ladakh representatives is scheduled for October 6.
