Srinagar, Feb 2 : Police have arrested three persons for allegedly indulging in gambling activities in the Habba Kadal area of Srinagar, officials said on Monday.
A police told news agency Kashmir News Corner—(KNC) that a team from Police Station Shaheed Gunj conducted a raid late Sunday night and apprehended the accused while they were engaged in gambling.
The arrested persons were identified as Amir Aslam Sheikh of Pathan Mohalla, Hazratbal; Umar Zahoor Bhat of Chesti Kocha, Sona Masjid, Habba Kadal; and Amir Rashid Bhat of Pathan Mohalla, Hazratbal.
During the operation, police recovered playing cards and cash amounting to about Rs 7,000 from their possession.
A case under Section 13 of the Gambling Act has been registered at Police Station Shaheed Gunj and further investigation is underway, he added.—(KNC)
