Srinagar, 10 February 2026: Addressing a large gathering of traders and business leaders at the Srinagar District Traders & Business Convention, Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization), J&K BJP, outlined how the Union Budget 2026-27 will benefit the nation as well as Jammu & Kashmir’s business community. Adv. Sheikh Salman, District President Srinagar, and Sajad Raina, Social Media Co-Incharge, were also present in the convention.

Ashok Koul emphasized that the Union Budget has placed strong focus on boosting economic growth, expanding infrastructure, supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), simplifying tax norms, and strengthening tourism, all crucial for fostering trade, generating employment and accelerating prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir and across India. He reiterated the central government’s commitment to Viksit Bharat vision, with targeted reforms aimed at enhancing ease of doing business, increasing credit access for small enterprises, and incentivizing entrepreneurship.

Koul highlighted key benefits of the Union Budget that directly impact traders, businesses and tourism sector stakeholders like enhanced support for MSMEs, including increased allocations and strategic investment plans. He included promotion of tourism infrastructure and sustainable mountain and adventure tourism initiatives. He also talked of the simplification of tax regulations and relief measures for middle-class entrepreneurs. He enlisted the strengthened focus on infrastructure, connectivity and employment creation nationwide.

Koul also drew attention to the strong growth momentum in J&K’s economy, including an encouraging jump in tourist footfalls, underlining the potential for tourism to be a key driver of regional prosperity.

Ashok Koul questioned the National Conference-led J&K government’s inability to address core economic and public aspirations, asserting that the NC government has ignored vital issues including the fiscal clarity in its own budget processes. He urged the government to match the central vision with decisive regional action and deliver tangible results for the people and the business community.
