April 14: Continuing its drive against gambling at public places, police arrested four gamblers in Sopore and seized stake money from their possession.
Acting on specific information, Police conducted a raid in Dangerpora area of Sopore and apprehended four persons involved in illegal card gambling who tried to flee from the spot. They have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Pandith son of Abdul Gani Pandith resident of Dangerpora, Lateef Ahmad Khanday son of Showkat Ahmad Khanday resident of Adipora Sopore, Sajad Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar resident of Hatam Mohalla, Dangerpora and Riyaz Ahmad Beigh son of Ghulam Rasool Beigh resident of Beigh Mohalla, Dangerpora
During the raid, stake money amounting to ₹2,740/- along with playing cards was recovered and seized on the spot. Accordingly, case FIR No. 92/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation is underway.
Police reiterate their commitment to maintaining public order and taking firm action against unlawful activities at public places.
