Srinagar, July 1 (GNS): The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns in several parts of Srinagar on July 2 and July 7 to carry out essential infrastructure development and maintenance works.
According to an official notification, electricity supply will remain suspended from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the affected days to enable execution of critical works under various projects.
Power supply from the 33 KV Alasteng–Nagbal Line will remain affected on July 2. The shutdown will impact receiving stations at Alastang, Nagbal, Gadoora, Tulbagh and Saloora due to pole erection work being carried out under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme. Areas including Shuhama, Bakura, Darend, Nagbal, Fetehpora Gadoora, Tulbagh, Chunduna, Saloora, Shairpathri and adjoining localities are likely to face disruption.
Similarly, power supply from the 33 KV Exhibition Line feeding GIS Batmaloo and Court Complex receiving stations will remain suspended on July 2 and July 7, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The shutdown is to facilitate cable charging at the Batmaloo–Mominabad stretch as part of utility shifting works under the VUP project. Court Complex, Mominabad, Batmaloo Adda and nearby areas will be affected.
Electricity supply from the 33 KV Alsteng–Zakura Line will also remain suspended on July 2 between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The shutdown will affect receiving stations at Omer Hair, Gulab Bagh and Ahmad Nagar to allow installation of SMDBs, laying of HT/LT cables, and other allied infrastructure works. Residents of Khulmulla, Pandach, Pathan Colony, Ahmad Nagar and adjoining areas are likely to face power interruptions.
KPDCL has advised consumers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements in advance and cooperate with the department to facilitate timely completion of the works. The corporation expressed regret for the inconvenience, stating that the temporary shutdown is essential for strengthening and improving the power distribution infrastructure in the city.(GNS)
