Documents accessed by news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) reveal that the accused, a resident of Soura in Srinagar, has been booked under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the case.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly approached the woman in 2018 and developed a romantic relationship with her. The complainant has alleged that he established physical relations with her on multiple occasions on the pretext of marriage, which she claims resulted in repeated pregnancies that were later terminated at his insistence.

The woman has further accused the scientist of financially exploiting her during the course of their relationship. She alleged that he coerced her into arranging large sums of money under various pretexts, including medical emergencies, and compelled her to sell land in the Kanihama area of Budgam, dispose of gold ornaments, and secure a loan from a UCO Bank branch in Srinagar in her name.

According to the complainant, the accused used the money to construct his house and maintain a lavish lifestyle.

The relationship, as per the complaint, deteriorated when the woman began pressing for marriage. She has alleged that she was subsequently threatened with dire consequences, including threats to her life and that of her family, as well as the release of her private photographs on social media.

Sources confirmed that FIR No. 11 dated April 20, 2026, was registered at the Women’s Police Station Rambagh under relevant provisions of the law. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation into the case is underway. (KDC)
