Jammu, May 9 : A man from Doda was critically injured after being allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons late Friday night at Jammu Bus Stand, officials said.
The injured has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Vijay Kumar and a resident of Doda. According to sources, the attackers repeatedly assaulted him on the head, arms and other parts of the body, leaving him severely injured.
Sources said that after carrying out the initial assault, the accused fled from the spot but allegedly returned nearly one-and-a-half hours later and attacked the victim again.
Rakesh Kumar was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for treatment, where his condition is stated to be critical.
Police have arrested two accused identified as Nikhil Hans of Dogra Hall and Rishabh Kumar of Bakshi Nagar. Officials said a scooty and the sharp-edged weapons allegedly used in the attack have also been recovered.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused had allegedly been planning the attack for several days and had visited the Bus Stand area two to three days earlier in an attempt to locate the victim.
Police have registered a case and further investigation into the incident is underway.(KNC)
