Searches Held in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag; Mobile Phone Seized in UAPA Case

Srinagar, June 27(GNS):The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Saturday carried out multiple raids at different locations across the Valley in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Officials told GNS that a CIK team from Srinagar raided the residence of Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, son of Noor Mohammad Beigh, originally from Dalal Mohalla, Maharaj Gunj, Srinagar, and presently residing at Hokarsar near Police Station Shalteng for the last 16 years. The raid was underway at the time of filing this report.

In Ganderbal, another CIK team headed by DySP CIK Nissar Ahmad conducted searches at the house of Syed Qalandar Shah, son of Barkat Shah, resident of Chountwaliwar Lar. The operation was in progress.

Meanwhile, in Anantnag district, a CIK team led by DySP CIK Anantnag, accompanied by NT Mudasir Yosuf Bhat and assisted by SHO Dooru, raided the residence of Gulzar Ahmad Rather, 42, son of Abdul Gani Rather of Nowgam, Kapran. Rather, who has passed Class 10, has been serving as Imam at Phali Masjid Nowgam since 2012.

During the search at Nowgam, Verinag, officials recovered and seized a Redmi 9 Note Pro mobile phone. The seizure was made in connection with FIR No. 07/2023 registered under Sections 153, 506, 13, 18-B, 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Police Station JIC CIK Srinagar.

Officials said the raid in Anantnag concluded peacefully. Searches at other locations were ongoing.
