June 30: In a major action against narcotics-linked illegal activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, police in Handwara, in close coordination with the District Administration, retrieved 1.1/2 Kanals of Govt land illegally encroached by a known drug peddler in Daril Tarathpora area of Tehsil Tarathpora.

The encroached land was found under the illegal occupation of Zakir Ahmad Teli son of Abdul Gani Teli, who is involved in Case FIR No. 07/2026 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Vilgam.

Acting firmly against individuals involved in narcotics-related activities and unlawful encroachments, the joint team carried out the retrieval operation after completing all necessary legal procedures. The illegally occupied land was successfully restored, and further legal action as warranted under law has been initiated.

This decisive action demonstrates the unwavering commitment of J&K Police and District Administration to dismantle the ecosystem supporting drug trafficking and other unlawful activities. Authorities have reiterated that strict measures will continue against drug peddlers, their illegal assets, and encroachments to ensure a safer and drug-free society.

Police appeals to the public to actively support the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan by sharing information regarding drug abuse, trafficking, and illegal activities in their areas.
