New Delhi, July 4 (KNC): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two private individuals in connection with the alleged leak of the question paper for the General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE)-2022 conducted for recruitment to the post of Goods Train Manager in the South Western Railway.
According to an official CBI press release issued on Friday, the two accused were arrested in Bengaluru on July 3, 2026, following the agency’s ongoing investigation into the high-profile recruitment examination leak case.
The CBI stated that it had earlier registered a case against 23 accused on charges including criminal conspiracy, cheating, and acceptance of illegal gratification by a public servant. The case was initiated on the basis of a complaint filed by the South Western Railways.
During searches conducted at the premises of the newly arrested accused, investigators reportedly recovered several incriminating documents, electronic devices including scanners and printers allegedly used in carrying out the examination fraud, along with examination-related records and details of candidates.
The investigating agency said the probe has uncovered evidence suggesting that the two arrested individuals played a central role in the alleged conspiracy to leak the examination question paper and facilitate its distribution to selected candidates before the examination. The CBI described the duo as the alleged “kingpins” behind the paper leak operation.
Both accused were produced before a competent court in Bengaluru on July 4, 2026. The court granted the CBI four days of custodial remand to facilitate further interrogation and investigation.
The CBI said the investigation is continuing to identify other persons allegedly involved in the conspiracy and indicated that further action may follow based on the evidence collected.(KNC)
