MeT Predicts Light to Moderate Rain in J&K, Issues Flash Flood Advisory

Srinagar, July 07 (GNS): The Meteorological Department has forecast spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir from July 7 to July 12, with possibility of heavy showers at a few places.

An official of MeT Srinagar told GNS that from July 7-8, many places in Jammu division are likely to receive one or two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershower, with heavy rain and brief intense showers expected at a few places mainly during late night and early morning hours. A few places may also receive brief showers towards the afternoon.

Many districts of Kashmir division may also witness light to moderate rain with brief intense showers at a few places, mainly towards afternoon and early morning hours.

For July 9-10, light to moderate rain/thundershower is expected at many places with brief intense heavy showers at a few places.

On July 11-12, one or two spells of rain/thundershower are likely at many places, with heavy rain and brief intense heavy showers at isolated places.

The MeT has warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall and brief intense heavy showers during July 7-8 and July 11 at a few places during afternoon and early morning hours.

It has also cautioned about the possibility of flash floods, landslides and mudslides at a few vulnerable places in Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal range.

People have been advised to stay away from nallas, streams and mudslide-prone areas.(GNS)
