Anantnag, July 08 (GNS): Anantnag Police apprehended three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) with the help of a Facial Recognition System (FRS) in Sarbal area, officials said.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that the FRS installed by Anantnag Police for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra generated timely alerts regarding three suspicious individuals while they were passing through Sarbal. Acting swiftly, police personnel intercepted the trio and verified their identities.
During verification, all three were identified as OGWs. Based on the intelligence generated through the FRS and subsequent on-ground verification, they were promptly taken into custody by Anantnag Police for further legal proceedings.
Officials said the detection highlights the role of technology-driven policing in strengthening the security grid and ensuring a safe, secure, and incident-free Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
