Shopian, July 17 (GNS): An elderly man was found dead near Syed Ali Masjid in New Colony, Pakharpora area of Budgam on Friday, officials said.
Officials told GNS that the deceased has been identified as Mohd Hussain Gorsi, 65, son of Gami Gorsi and a resident of Pahlipora, Keller and was reportedly a beggar.
According to officials, the body was spotted by locals near the mosque and police were informed immediately. The body has been taken into custody by police for medico-legal formalities.
The cause and circumstances of the death are being ascertained.
Further investigation is underway, police said.(GNS)
