Pulwama, Aug 03 (GNS): Pulwama Police, along with 44 Rashtriya Rifles and 183 Battalion CRPF, on Monday claimed to have foiled a terror conspiracy with the arrest of a suspect and recovery of a hand grenade during a joint naka in Rajpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
In a statement issued to GNS, police said that a joint naka was established on Drabgam–Pachar Road. During checking, a suspicious person coming from Drabgam towards Pachar tried to flee on seeing the naka party.
“However, the alert naka party chased and apprehended him near Fruit Mandi on Pachar Road,” the statement said.
During search, one hand grenade, three anti-national posters and one mobile phone were recovered from his possession, it added.
The arrested person has been identified as Tousef Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Hameed Dar, a resident of Drabgam Payeen.
Accordingly, FIR No. 107/2026 under Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 23 & 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act has been registered at Police Station Rajpora. Investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source of the recovered material and identify any further linkages, the statement said.
“Pulwama Police, in close coordination with the Army and CRPF, remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the district and will continue to take firm action against individuals involved in anti-national and unlawful activities,” police said. (GNS)
