Srinagar, Aug 7 (GNS): Police fired three rounds at a suspicious Scorpio vehicle in the early hours of Thursday after it failed to stop at a checkpoint in Ramban district.
Officials told GNS that the incident took place near the police Naka point at Chanderkote on NH-44, close to JP Gate, when a Scorpio travelling from Srinagar towards Jammu was signalled to stop.
“The vehicle did not stop despite repeated signals. Police personnel fired 3 rounds upon the vehicle as a precautionary measure,” an official said.
Following the firing, the Scorpio fled towards the Nashri side.
A joint search operation has been launched by police, CRPF and Army in the area to trace the vehicle, which is being described as suspicious.
