Police arrest accused driver within 2-hours
Srinagar, Aug 07 : Kashmir Images journalist Majid Kapra and his two minor children sustained injuries after a speeding load carrier allegedly hit the scooty they were travelling on near Hazratbal on Friday morning.
According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the accident occurred at around 8:00 am when the journalist was on his way to drop his children at school.
“Majid Kapra suffered a head injury, while his two minor children were also wounded. The injured were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Habbak for initial treatment. Owing to the nature of the injuries, the injured were later referred to SKIMS Soura for specialised treatment,” said an official.
“The load carrier driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. However, alert bystanders managed to identify the vehicle and informed the police. Acting swiftly, police registered a formal case at Police Post Hazratbal.
Within two hours of the incident, the accused driver was arrested and the offending vehicle was seized,” the official said, adding that Police have booked the accused in connection with the hit-and-run case, and further investigation is underway—(KNO)
