Srinagar, Aug 16(GNS):Panic gripped Karkroo Mohalla in Nambla, Uri after dead rats were allegedly found inside a drinking water storage tank and supply pipelines that cater to nearly 25 to 30 households.
Locals expressed serious concern over the quality and hygiene of the water being supplied to the area. They have urged the administration to act swiftly and ensure the water is properly cleaned and made fit for consumption.
Taking note of the issue, the Assistant Executive Engineer, PHE Uri, told GNS that the tank has already been cleaned and water supply to the affected locality will be restored within an hour.
Meanwhile, residents have called upon the department to adopt preventive measures and conduct regular inspection and cleaning of water tanks and pipelines to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future.(GNS)
